While 2010 year-end industry reports cited women attorneys hitting a five-year low at law firms, one local firm has not only bucked that trend, but been cited as one of the top firms for women in the state of Pennsylvania.
Paoli-based employment law firm Rubin, Fortunato & Harbison, P.C. was again cited in the recently released “PaLAW Annual Report on the Legal Profession” as being the second largest firm in the state based on the percentage of female attorneys (in the previous year’s report, Rubin Fortunato topped the list). Listed as the 62nd largest firm in the state, 57% of the firm’s attorneys are women.
The report was compiled by American Lawyer Media, an integrated media company who gears its publications and education to the legal and commercial real estate sectors and who publishes the annual report to show how law firms in the Commonwealth rate in a number of areas, such as financials, growth, and geographical reach.
Interestingly enough, the ALM report came on the heels of a year-end National Law Journal story citing that the percentage of women partners and associates working at some of the nation’s largest law firms fell to its lowest point since 2006.
“We are certainly pleasantly surprised to be recognized for our diversity, and more importantly nearly half of our female attorneys are shareholders,” said Michael J. Fortunato, chair of the Employment Group. “But without regard to gender, we are most proud of the tremendous collection of talent that we have assembled to service our clients’ employment needs.”
Rubin Fortunato has built a national employment law practice based in suburban Philadelphia, PA, representing both corporations and individuals in virtually all areas related to employment law.
